Some of the rich experiences offered to our children are as a result of our school being part of the Gloucester Schools' Partnership (GSP), along with 39 primary schools in Gloucester City.   

Enrichment Week (slide shows below)

The children thoroughly enjoyed the challenges and opportunities on offer during Enrichment Week, which took place in National Sports Week (June 2022). Parents were very positive about the events and some of their comments were captured as follows:

“It was a lovely supportive environment, and all of the children were really positive with each other about their achievements”

"It gave lots of different opportunities for all of the children, some of which may have never done these things before”

“It taught them some key life skills like teamwork and helped build confidence”

The theme for National Science Week this March was "Our Diverse Planet". At Dinglewell we ran our own Science Festival; giving every class the opportunity to design their own experiment or investigation to share with the rest of the school. Each class ran their own stall and all children visited the different stalls throughout the morning. The Y3s from the Junior School also joined in. The children were very enthusiastic about the festival and they particularly enjoyed the chance to share their learning with each other:

"It's awesome, I love explaining and learning stuff - I've learnt it's not good to throw litter, because our animals can get damaged and die" (Ella, Y2)

"I liked going round the tables to see what other people were learning, I liked the tortoise experiment the best!" (George, Y2)

"It's really fun, because we get to learn different things, like everyone in the whole wide world is different - everyone looks different" (Bethanie, Y2)

"Amazing and wonderful, because we got to do loads of science and I like science - you find out lots of things (Amelia Rose, Y2)

"I learned about different patterns on people's finger prints and I liked going round the stalls" (Eliana, Y2)

"Learning about camouflage was my favourite experiment" (Leila, Y1)

"I liked all the activities" (Lucas, Y1)

"I liked doing things that I didn't do before" (Athena, Reception)

"We were trying to explain to other people not to throw rubbish - the world will get sad when you throw rubbish" (Sierra, Reception)

"I liked seeing people freeing the animals when they get nets wrapped around them" (Cassia, Reception)

World Ocean Day

On June 7th 2019 the whole school took part in World Ocean Day by dressing up as sea creatures using recycled household materials. In the week leading up to World Ocean Day, the children learnt about ecosystems and some of the devastating effects that single use plastic is having on our world oceans and marine wildlife.

The children have been making plastic bricks at home by filling empty plastic bottles with single use plastic, crisp wrappers, cling film and biscuit wrappers etc. This has helped to raise the awareness of the children and their families of just how much single use plastic we discard on a daily basis.

The children have also been involved in finding out how much single use plastic is being used in lunchboxes throughout the week and have discussed suitable alternatives - some of which we will be making at school.

 Harvest October 2018

On Friday 12th October we held our annual Harvest Service to celebrate the food grown on the land.

The children brought their food donations to decorate the harvest table and then sang songs and recited poetry to say thank you for the importance of growing crops and farming. Majors Gareth and Susan Heward from the Salvation Army joined us to celebrate and they were delighted and very thankful for all the kind contributions that will help people in need in Gloucester.

Thanks to Morrsions in Abbeydale who donated the intricate wheatsheaf displayed on the harvest table.

GSP 10 Year Anniversary Concert

On 9th October 2018 Dinglewell Infant School took part in the Gloucester Schools' Partnership (GSP) 10 year anniversary concert alongside Dinglewell Junior School and 32 other Gloucester schools. The GSP work collaboratively to provide the highest quality provision to raise attainment, aspirations and life chances of the children in the Partnership.

Throughout the year, our schools work together, sharing knowledge, support and resources, as well as creating inspiring and memorable
opportunities for pupils.

This concert celebrated our milestone 10 Year Anniversary, with pupils from GSP schools across Gloucester, all performing together at Gloucester Cathedral - an incredible setting; perfect for celebrating 10 years of working together as a community.

Sports Day (2015)

This year we chose to hold our Sports Day during National Sports Week in June 2015. The children had a fabulous morning and there was a great atmosphere as they completed their activities.

The children were split into teams and had a series of activities to complete throughout the morning. Each team had a Y5 from the Junior School helping to keep the score!

Before the activities began, the staff and children warmed up enthusiastically to our current Wake & Shake routine.

Many thanks to all the parents that were brave enough to enter into the final 2 races - well done Mums & Dads! 

Throughout National Sports Week the children also had the opportunity to take part in an activity day, food tasting (thanks to Morrisons and Tescos for providing such a wealth of healthy food for the children to try), a tennis tournament, a football World Cup tournament and the chance to listen to a talk on playing cricket.
